CONNECTING DEEPLY
I found the Connector Manager model, detailed in this book, very interesting and wanted to apply its wisdom immediately within our team at Gartner.
It’s a helpful reminder that everyone reporting to you must feel deeply connected to you, to one another in the team, and to others - both inside and/or outside the organization - for their personalized growth and professional development.
But there always seemed a glaring issue with the model’s concentric circles: there was no POINT (as in, YOU, the leader) specifically labeled on it!
As a CEO, you can imagine yourself at the foundational, wellspring point; the only way you can ever help anyone else grow is if you first help yourself grow.
How do you inspire others? By being inspired.
How do you inspire yourself, then, to be inspiring and connect more authentically 1:1 with your direct reports, teaching them to do the same and beyond in your organization? By shutting out all the other bullshit around you at work, and listening to your inner voice / guidance / higher Self.
